Although we have always attempted to produce MP3 files of reasonable quality without creating massive files, it will be evident that we have had a lot to learn. Our earliest attempts used too high a compression ratio and produced some unpleasant artifacts. Again, some of our earlier attempts at processing files to overcome problems caused by too great a dynamic range of the recorded material resulted in files with significant degradation of audio quality. We trust that our latest offerings have overcome some of these difficulties and result in comfortable listening without too much background noise.
